Monday

Time to Go Home

Ezra 1

Today's idea Heavenly Father always keeps His promises.

God's people had been living far away from their home for a long, long time. They missed their beautiful city and the temple, Heavenly Father's special house.

Long ago, Heavenly Father had made a promise that His people could go home again. And Heavenly Father always keeps His promises.

One day, a king named Cyrus felt a kind feeling in his heart. “God's people may go home,” he said, “and build a temple for Heavenly Father!”

The people were so happy! They packed their things and got ready for the long trip home.

Kind neighbors even gave them gifts to help build the temple. Everyone wanted to help.

Heavenly Father had kept His promise, just like He always does. When Heavenly Father promises something, we can trust that it will happen.

Let's think: How does it feel when someone keeps a promise they made to you?

Tuesday

Building God's House

Ezra 3

Today's idea We can help build God's house and thank Him with happy hearts.

When God's people got home, they wanted to build the temple right away — Heavenly Father's special house.

First they built the foundation, the strong bottom part that holds everything up. Everyone worked together, big and small.

When the foundation was finished, the people were filled with joy! They sang songs and thanked Heavenly Father.

“He is so good! His love lasts forever!” they sang. Their happy music could be heard far, far away.

Building God's house took many hands all helping together.

You can help build God's house too — by being reverent, by singing, and by loving the people around you.

Wednesday

Finishing With Joy

Ezra 6

Today's idea When we keep trying, Heavenly Father helps us finish good things.

Building the temple was a big job. It took a long, long time.

Some people tried to make the work stop. But God's people kept praying and kept building, a little bit every day.

Heavenly Father helped them and gave them courage to keep going.

At last — the temple was finished! It was beautiful, and it was all for Heavenly Father.

The people had a wonderful celebration. They were so thankful and so happy.

When something is hard, we don't give up. We keep trying, and Heavenly Father helps us finish — just like He helped His people finish the temple.

Let's think: What is something hard that you kept trying until you finished it?

Thursday

Ezra Loves the Scriptures

Ezra 7

Today's idea We can love the scriptures and learn what Heavenly Father wants us to know.

There was a man named Ezra who loved Heavenly Father with all his heart.

Most of all, Ezra loved the scriptures — the holy words that teach us about God.

Ezra studied the scriptures carefully. He wanted to understand them and to do what they said.

Then Ezra did something kind: he taught the scriptures to everyone else, so they could learn and love them too.

Heavenly Father was so pleased with Ezra for loving His words and sharing them.

You can love the scriptures too. When someone reads them to you, you are learning what Heavenly Father wants you to know.

Let's think: What is a story from the scriptures that you love?

Friday

Nehemiah's Kind Wish

Nehemiah 2

Today's idea Heavenly Father can put good wishes in our hearts to help others.

A man named Nehemiah heard sad news: the walls around his people's city were broken down.

Nehemiah felt sad too. He wished he could help fix the walls and keep his people safe.

So Nehemiah prayed to Heavenly Father about his kind wish.

Nehemiah worked for a king. The king saw that Nehemiah was sad and kindly asked, “How can I help you?”

The king let Nehemiah go home to fix the walls, and even gave him what he needed. Heavenly Father had helped!

Heavenly Father can put good wishes in your heart too — wishes to help and to be kind. When you feel one, you can act on it, just like Nehemiah.

Let's think: Who is someone you would like to help?

Saturday

Keep Building, Don't Give Up

Nehemiah 4

Today's idea We can keep doing good, even when it feels hard.

Nehemiah and his people began to rebuild the broken walls. Everyone helped, working side by side.

But some people did not want them to finish. They said unkind things to try to make them stop.

Nehemiah did not give up. He prayed to Heavenly Father and told the people, “Do not be afraid. Heavenly Father is helping us.”

So the people kept working. They stayed close together and cheered each other on.

Little by little, the wall grew taller and stronger, until at last it was finished!

When a job feels hard or someone says unkind things, you can keep doing good, just like Nehemiah and his helpers. Heavenly Father is helping you too.

Sunday

The Happy Book

Nehemiah 8

Today's idea God's words fill our hearts with joy.

When the walls were finished, all the people gathered together in one big place.

Ezra brought out the scriptures — Heavenly Father's holy words. Everyone wanted to listen.

Ezra read the words out loud, all morning long. The people listened carefully, big and small.

As they listened, their hearts felt so full and happy. Some even had happy tears.

“This is a special day!” Ezra told them. “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” That means Heavenly Father's love makes us happy and strong.

When you listen to the scriptures, your heart can feel happy and strong too. Heavenly Father's words are a gift of joy.
