Monday

Saying Sorry

2 Samuel 12

Today's idea When we make a mistake, we can say sorry, and Heavenly Father always loves us.

Everybody makes mistakes sometimes. Even kings and grown-ups and big sisters and little brothers. Even you, and even me. Making a mistake is part of learning and growing.

King David made a mistake once. When he thought about what he had done, his heart felt sad and sorry. He wished he had chosen better.

A kind helper named Nathan reminded David that Heavenly Father still loved him. David could say sorry and try again. So David told Heavenly Father, “I am sorry. I want to do better.”

Heavenly Father heard David's prayer. He loves us so much, even when we make mistakes. When we feel sorry and want to do better, He helps our hearts feel clean and happy again.

If you ever make a mistake, you can say sorry too. Heavenly Father is never too far away. He always loves you, and He will always help you try again.

Tuesday

Solomon's Wise Wish

1 Kings 3

Today's idea We can ask Heavenly Father to help us be wise and good.

After King David, his son Solomon became the new king. Solomon was young, and being a king was a very big job. He wanted to do it well.

One night, Heavenly Father spoke to Solomon and said, “Ask for anything you would like, and I will give it to you.” Solomon could have asked for gold, or a big crown, or anything at all!

But Solomon thought carefully. He said, “Please give me a wise and understanding heart, so I can help Your people and know what is right.”

Heavenly Father was so happy! Solomon had not asked for things just for himself. He asked to be good and wise so he could help others. So God gave him a wise heart — and many good gifts too.

You can ask Heavenly Father to help you be wise and kind, just like Solomon. When we want to be good and help others, it makes Heavenly Father's heart so glad.

Wednesday

A Wise and Kind Heart

1 Kings 3

Today's idea Heavenly Father helps us know what is right when we listen carefully.

Now that Solomon had a wise heart, people came to him with their hard questions. They trusted him to help them know what was right.

One day, two mothers came to King Solomon. They were both saying the same little baby was theirs, and they did not know what to do.

Solomon listened very carefully and very quietly. He watched their faces. He could see which mother loved the baby with her whole heart and wanted the baby to be safe and happy.

Solomon gently said, “This is the baby's true mother.” And he gave the baby back to her loving arms. Everyone was amazed at how wise and kind King Solomon was.

When we slow down, listen carefully, and ask Heavenly Father to help us, He helps us know what is right too. Being a good listener is a wonderful, wise gift.

Thursday

Building God's Temple

1 Kings 6

Today's idea We can do careful, loving work to make beautiful things for Heavenly Father.

King Solomon wanted to build a very special house for Heavenly Father. It would be called the temple — a holy and beautiful place where people could come to feel close to God.

So many kind workers helped. They cut smooth, lovely stones. They carved warm, golden wood. They worked carefully and gently, doing their very best, because this house was for Heavenly Father.

Little by little, the beautiful temple grew. It shone with gold and was filled with lovely carvings of flowers and palm trees. It was peaceful and wonderful inside.

Everyone worked together with happy hearts. When we do our work carefully and with love — even cleaning our room or helping at home — we can do it for Heavenly Father too.

Today there are temples all around the world. They are quiet, peaceful, beautiful places. Temples help us remember that we are children of God and that He loves us.

Friday

A House of Prayer

1 Kings 8

Today's idea The temple is a special place to feel close to Heavenly Father.

At last, the beautiful temple was finished! It was time to give it to Heavenly Father. Everyone came together for a happy, special day.

King Solomon stood in front of all the people. He lifted his hands and prayed to Heavenly Father with all his heart. “Thank You, Heavenly Father,” he said. “Please let this be a place where people can feel close to You.”

A soft, warm feeling filled the temple. It was peaceful and holy. The people could feel that Heavenly Father was near, and their hearts were glad.

Solomon prayed that anyone who came to the temple and talked to Heavenly Father would be heard. Because Heavenly Father always hears us when we pray, no matter where we are.

You are a child of God. Whether you are in a temple, at home, or out playing, you can talk to Heavenly Father any time. He is always listening, and He always loves you.

Saturday

God's Promise to Solomon

1 Kings 9

Today's idea Heavenly Father promises to bless us when we keep Him in our hearts.

After the beautiful temple was finished, Heavenly Father spoke to Solomon again. He had a loving promise to share.

Heavenly Father said, “I have heard your prayer. I love this temple, and I love My people. I will watch over you.”

Then God gave Solomon a gentle reminder: “Keep Me close in your heart. Remember Me, and walk in My ways, and I will always be with you and bless you.”

Solomon felt so happy and thankful. Heavenly Father had given him wisdom, a beautiful temple, and a wonderful promise. God is so good to His children.

Heavenly Father makes that same loving promise to you. When you keep Him close in your heart and remember Him, He will always be with you. What a beautiful promise!

Keeping Our Hearts with God

1 Kings 11

Today's idea Each day, we can choose to keep our hearts close to Heavenly Father.

King Solomon had many wonderful blessings. But as the years went by, he sometimes let his heart wander away from Heavenly Father. He began to forget the things that mattered most.

This teaches us something important and gentle: keeping our hearts close to Heavenly Father is something we choose every single day. It is like watering a little plant — we do it again and again so it can grow.

We keep our hearts close by saying our prayers, by being kind, by listening to the Holy Ghost — that warm, quiet helper — and by remembering how much Heavenly Father loves us.

Some days are easy, and some days are hard. But each new morning, we can choose again. We can say, “Today, I want to keep my heart close to Heavenly Father.”

You are a child of God, and He loves you so much. When you keep your heart close to Him, you will feel His love and peace, today and every day.
