Monday

A Brave and Kind Girl

Esther 2

Today's idea Heavenly Father has a special plan for each of His children.

Long ago, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a kind little girl named Esther. Esther's mom and dad had died, so her cousin Mordecai took care of her like a loving father.

Mordecai loved Esther very much. He taught her to be kind, brave, and good, just like a child of Heavenly Father should be.

One day, the king needed to choose a new queen to help him. Many young women came to the palace, and gentle, humble Esther was chosen!

Esther became the queen! But even with beautiful robes and a crown, she stayed humble and kind, just like she always had been.

Mordecai still watched over Esther and loved her, even from outside the palace walls.

Heavenly Father has a special plan for each of His children — even a girl who once felt like nobody. He was preparing Esther for something wonderful.

Tuesday

Mordecai Keeps the King Safe

Esther 2

Today's idea When we notice something wrong, we can tell someone who can help.

Mordecai often sat near the palace gate, where he could watch over Esther and know she was safe.

One day, Mordecai heard two men whispering. They were planning to do something that would hurt the king!

Mordecai knew this was not right. He quickly told Queen Esther what he had heard.

Esther told the king right away, and she made sure everyone knew that kind, watchful Mordecai was the one who had found out.

The king was kept safe, and someone wrote down in a special book that Mordecai had done a good and brave thing.

When we notice something isn't right, we can tell a grown-up who can help — just like Mordecai told Esther.

Let's think: Who can you tell if you ever feel worried about something?

Wednesday

A Proud Man's Unkind Plan

Esther 3

Today's idea Heavenly Father loves all His children, even when others are unkind.

In the kingdom there was a proud man named Haman. The king made Haman very important, and Haman wanted everyone to bow down to him.

But Mordecai only bowed down to Heavenly Father. This made Haman feel very upset.

Haman's upset feelings grew and grew, until he made an unkind plan that would hurt Mordecai's people — Esther's people too.

When Mordecai and the others heard about the plan, they felt sad and worried.

But even when someone is unkind, Heavenly Father still loves and watches over every one of His children.

Being proud and unkind, like Haman, never makes anyone truly happy. Being loving and humble, like Mordecai, is what Heavenly Father wants for us.

Let's think: How can you show love even to someone who is being unkind?

Thursday

For Such a Time as This

Esther 4

Today's idea Heavenly Father can help us be brave when it's our turn to help.

When Mordecai heard about Haman's unkind plan, he was very worried for his people. He sent word to Esther, asking her to help.

But Esther felt scared. There was a rule that no one — not even the queen — could visit the king without being asked. It felt like a big, scary step.

Mordecai sent Esther a gentle message: "Maybe Heavenly Father made you queen for exactly this reason — for such a time as this."

Esther thought about it. She knew her people needed her, and she wanted to help them.

Esther decided to be brave. "I will go to the king," she said, "even though I am afraid."

Sometimes Heavenly Father gives each of us our own special moment to be brave and to help others, just like He did for Esther.

Let's think: When have you felt brave even though you were a little scared?

Friday

Esther's People Help Her Be Brave

Esther 4

Today's idea We can feel Heavenly Father's help when the people we love support us.

Before Esther went to see the king, she asked Mordecai and all her people to help her get ready.

She asked everyone to fast together for three days — that means going without food for a little while, to show they were trusting Heavenly Father with all their hearts.

All of Esther's people fasted together, thinking of her and hoping she would feel safe and brave.

Quietly, in her heart, Esther felt the Holy Ghost — Heavenly Father's warm, quiet helper — giving her peace and courage inside.

Knowing that so many people loved her and were thinking of her made Esther feel strong.

When we feel scared, it helps to know that others love us and are thinking of us — just like Esther's people helped her feel brave.

Let's think: Who helps you feel brave when you are a little scared?

Saturday

Esther Is Brave

Esther 5

Today's idea When we are brave and kind, Heavenly Father can help us make things right.

At last, the day came. Esther put on her royal robes and walked bravely to see the king.

The king saw Esther and smiled kindly at her. He was happy to see her! "What can I do for you?" he asked warmly.

Esther invited the king to a special dinner. There, with a brave and gentle heart, she told him about Haman's unkind plan to hurt her people.

The king was surprised and upset that anyone would try to hurt the people his kind queen loved. He made sure the unkind plan was stopped, and Esther's people were kept safe.

Esther's courage had made a wonderful difference for so many people she loved.

When we are brave and honest, like Esther, Heavenly Father can use us to help make things right.

A Joyful Celebration

Esther 9

Today's idea Heavenly Father fills our hearts with joy when we remember His goodness.

When Esther's people heard they were safe, their worried hearts turned into great joy!

They gathered together with feasting, gifts, and happy hearts to thank Heavenly Father for keeping them safe.

They shared baskets of food with each other and gave to those who had less, so everyone could celebrate together.

This joyful day became a yearly celebration called Purim, so families would always remember how Heavenly Father had helped them.

Every year after that, families told the story of brave Esther and kind Mordecai, and their hearts were filled with gratitude.

Heavenly Father loves to turn our worried hearts into joyful ones. When good things happen, we can celebrate and say thank you.
