Come, Follow Me for Littles

Week of August 24–30, 2026

Psalms 49–51; 61–66; 69–72; 77–78; 85–86

One little story for each day of the week — short enough to read together, gentle enough for the very youngest, and true to the scriptures.

A Heart Made New

Psalm 51

Today's idea When we do something wrong, we can tell Heavenly Father we are sorry, and He will make our heart clean and new.

Have you ever done something you knew wasn’t kind, and felt a heavy, sad feeling right in the middle of your chest?

A long time ago, a king named David felt that way. He had done something wrong, and it made his heart feel heavy and sad inside.

So David did something very brave. He talked to Heavenly Father, and he told Him the truth. He said he was sorry, all the way down deep.

Then David asked for something wonderful. He said, “Please, Heavenly Father, make a clean heart in me, and give me a happy, steady spirit again.”

And Heavenly Father did. He always forgives us when we are truly sorry — every single time. That heavy feeling can float right away, like a cloud drifting off on a breezy day.

That is one reason we love Jesus so much. Because of Him, our hearts really can be made clean and new.

The Rock That Is Higher

Psalm 61

Today's idea When our feelings get too big to hold all by ourselves, Heavenly Father lifts us to a safe, high place.

Sometimes big feelings come — feelings so big they feel like too much to hold all by yourself.

A long time ago, someone wrote a song about feeling that way. He said his heart felt “overwhelmed,” which just means it felt like too much, all at once.

So he asked Heavenly Father for help. He said, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I am.”

Have you ever climbed up somewhere high and looked around — maybe a big rock, or a hill, or even onto a grown-up’s shoulders? Everything looks calmer from up there.

Heavenly Father is like that safe, high rock. When our feelings feel too big, He lifts us up to a quiet, steady place where we can breathe and feel safe again.

He is a strong, warm shelter, always ready to hold us close.

Wednesday

Thirsty for Heavenly Father

Psalm 63

Today's idea Just like our bodies get thirsty for water, our hearts can feel thirsty to be close to Heavenly Father.

Have you ever played outside on a hot day until your mouth felt dry and you just had to have a drink of water?

A long time ago, David was walking through a dry, dusty desert with no water anywhere. He was very, very thirsty.

But David wrote that his heart felt thirsty too — thirsty to be close to Heavenly Father, the same way his body was thirsty for water.

He remembered how good it felt to think about Heavenly Father — even at night, lying down to sleep, he thought happy thoughts about Him.

When we feel that same wanting feeling — wanting to feel close to Heavenly Father — we can pray, or sing, or just think about Him. That warm, close feeling is the Holy Ghost, helping our thirsty hearts feel full again, like a cool drink on a hot day.

Heavenly Father’s love fills us all the way up.

The Year Wears a Crown

Psalm 65

Today's idea Heavenly Father fills the whole earth with good things, and everything He made can sing for joy.

Look outside for a moment. Do you see any grass, or flowers, or trees, or clouds?

A song in the scriptures says that Heavenly Father “crowns the year” with goodness — like the whole year gets to wear a beautiful crown made of good things.

It says the little hills are so happy they seem to laugh, and the valleys are covered with grain so thick it looks like they’re shouting for joy and singing.

Heavenly Father waters the earth, fills the rivers, and grows the grain that turns into our bread.

He didn’t just make the world one time — He keeps taking care of it, every single day, so it can keep growing good things for us.

When you see something beautiful outside today, that is Heavenly Father, still taking care of His whole big world — including you.

From Little to Old

Psalm 71

Today's idea Heavenly Father has loved us since we were tiny, and He will keep loving us our whole life long.

Someone once wrote, “Heavenly Father, You have been my hope since I was young.”

Think about that — Heavenly Father loved that person when they were a brand-new baby. He loved them when they were learning to walk. He loves them still.

The song even says, “Now that I am old, with gray hair, don’t leave me, Heavenly Father.” Grown-ups need Heavenly Father just as much as children do.

That is a wonderful promise: Heavenly Father is not just for one part of your life. He is with you when you are tiny, when you grow up big, and even when you become a grandma or grandpa yourself one day.

Families can trust Him together — today, tomorrow, and every day after that, your whole life long.

Saturday

Mercy and Peace Kiss

Psalm 85

Today's idea When we are kind and honest, mercy and peace come together, like two good friends.

Here is one of the prettiest pictures in all the scriptures. It says, “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.”

That means being kind (mercy), telling the truth (truth), doing what’s right (righteousness), and feeling calm (peace) all fit together, like good friends who love being near each other.

It even says that goodness will spring right up out of the ground, like a flower, and peace will look down from the sky like sunshine.

When we choose to be kind and honest at the same time, something good happens — our home feels peaceful, and everyone around us feels safe.

Because you are a child of God, you can help mercy and peace “kiss” today just by being gentle and true.

Heavenly Father wants that kind of peace to fill our families and our whole world.

Sunday

With All My Heart

Psalm 86

Today's idea Today we can say thank you to Heavenly Father with our whole heart, for all of His kindness to us.

Today is Sunday — a wonderful day to think about how good Heavenly Father is.

A song in the scriptures says, “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart… for great is thy mercy toward me.”

“With all my heart” means not just a little bit — it means really, truly meaning it. Not just saying the words, but feeling them too.

The song also calls Heavenly Father “good, and ready to forgive, and full of mercy to everyone who calls on Him.” That is such a comforting thing to know.

Living prophets teach us that when we count our blessings and say thank you, our hearts fill up with even more happiness.

Tonight, try saying thank you to Heavenly Father for one good thing from your whole day — with all your heart.
