Monday

Elisha the Prophet Helper

2 Kings 2

Today's idea We can follow Heavenly Father and be good helpers, just like Elisha.

There was a good prophet named Elijah who loved Heavenly Father. A prophet is a special helper who listens to God and shares His messages with everyone.

Elijah had a kind young helper named Elisha. Elisha followed Elijah everywhere and learned how to love and follow Heavenly Father too.

One day it was time for Elijah to go home to Heavenly Father. In a wonderful, bright, and gentle way, Heavenly Father took Elijah up to heaven.

Elijah's soft cloak was left behind on the ground. Elisha gently picked it up. Now it was his turn to be the prophet and help Heavenly Father's people.

Elisha kept praying, kept being kind, and kept following Heavenly Father with all his heart. He was a good and gentle helper, just like Elijah had been.

You can be a good helper too. When you are kind, when you pray, and when you follow Heavenly Father, you are doing something wonderful.

Tuesday

The Jar of Oil That Kept Pouring

2 Kings 4

Today's idea Heavenly Father can turn a little into just enough.

A kind mother came to the prophet Elisha. She was worried because she did not have much. All she had left was one tiny little jar of oil.

Elisha wanted to help. He said, “Go and gather many empty jars from your friends and neighbors. Bring as many as you can find.”

Then Elisha told her to pour her little bit of oil into the empty jars. So she began to pour. And something wonderful happened!

The oil kept pouring and pouring! It filled up one jar, then another, and another, until every single jar was full to the top. The oil did not run out!

Now the kind mother had plenty of oil to care for her family. Heavenly Father had taken her little bit and made it into just enough.

Heavenly Father takes care of you too. Even when we have only a little, He can turn it into just what we need. He always knows how to help.

Wednesday

A Cozy Room for the Prophet

2 Kings 4

Today's idea We can be kind and make others feel welcome.

Elisha the prophet traveled from town to town, helping people and sharing Heavenly Father's love. Sometimes he needed a place to rest.

In one town lived a kind family. They loved Heavenly Father, and they wanted to be kind to His prophet. So they had a wonderful idea.

“Let's make a little room just for Elisha,” they said. They fixed up a cozy room with a soft bed, a table, a chair, and a warm lamp to give light.

Now whenever Elisha came to their town, he had a comfy place to rest. He felt so welcome and so loved by the kind family.

Elisha was very thankful. The family had shared what they had, and it made everyone's heart happy and warm.

We can be kind and welcoming too. When we help others feel loved and cared for, we are being just like this gentle, kind family.

Thursday

Washing in the River

2 Kings 5

Today's idea When we obey Heavenly Father, even in simple things, we are blessed.

There was a man named Naaman who was very sick. He wanted so much to feel better. He heard that Heavenly Father's prophet Elisha could help him.

Elisha sent him a simple message: “Go and wash in the river seven times, and you will be all better.”

At first Naaman did not want to. It seemed too easy! “Just wash in the river?” he thought. But his kind friends said, “Why not try? It is a simple thing to do.”

So Naaman chose to obey. He went to the river and washed one, two, three, four, five, six, and seven times, just like Elisha said.

And he was all better! His skin was clean and healthy again. Naaman was so happy and so thankful to Heavenly Father.

Sometimes Heavenly Father asks us to do simple things, like being kind or saying a prayer. When we obey, even in little ways, wonderful blessings come.

Let's think: What is something good you can obey and do, even if it seems small?

Friday

The Axe That Floated

2 Kings 6

Today's idea Heavenly Father cares about our big and our little problems.

One day some workers were by the river, cutting wood to build a new place to live. They were working hard together.

Suddenly, one worker's axe head slipped right off and splashed into the water! It sank down deep. The worker felt so sad, because the axe was not even his to lose.

He went to Elisha the prophet and told him what happened. Elisha wanted to help, even with this little problem.

Then something amazing happened. The heavy iron axe head floated right up to the top of the water! It did not sink — it floated!

The happy worker reached out and picked it up. He was so relieved and so thankful. Heavenly Father had cared about even his small worry.

Heavenly Father cares about everything that matters to you — big things and little things. You can always tell Him what is on your heart.

Let's think: What is a little worry you can tell Heavenly Father about today?

Saturday

Helpers All Around Us

2 Kings 6

Today's idea Heavenly Father's helpers are always near — we are never alone.

Elisha the prophet had a young helper. One morning the young helper woke up and looked outside. He felt worried and a little afraid.

But Elisha was calm and peaceful. He said gently, “Don't be afraid. There are more helpers with us than you can see.”

Then Elisha prayed, “Heavenly Father, please help him see.” And Heavenly Father opened the young helper's eyes to something wonderful.

All around them, on the hills, were Heavenly Father's shining helpers — warm and bright and full of love. They were there to watch over Elisha and his helper.

The young helper was not afraid anymore. He felt safe and peaceful, because he knew Heavenly Father was taking care of them.

Heavenly Father sends helpers to watch over you too. Even when you cannot see them, His love is always near. You are never, ever alone.

Let's think: How does it feel to know Heavenly Father is always near you?

Sunday

A Little Food for Many

2 Kings 4

Today's idea When we share, Heavenly Father makes it enough.

One day a kind man brought Elisha a small gift — a little bit of bread. It did not seem like very much at all.

But there were many, many hungry people nearby who needed something to eat. What could such a little bit of bread do for so many people?

Elisha said, “Share it with everyone. Give the people the bread to eat.” His helper wondered, “Will there really be enough for all of them?”

But they trusted Heavenly Father and began to share. And there was enough! Everyone ate until they were full, and there was even some bread left over!

Heavenly Father had taken a little bit of food and made it into plenty, because the people were willing to share it with others.

When we share what we have, even when it seems small, Heavenly Father can make it into enough. Sharing fills hearts with happiness and love.
